Some tips to better enjoy your stay in our area and bring home a beautiful memory of something unforgettable.
Lago di Giacopiane
Lake Giacopiane is an artificial basin located in the Aveto National Regional Park, just above the town of Borzonasca. This beautiful trip to the lake will allow you to spend a day in contact with nature, in peace, with the possibility to observe closely the famous wild horses of the Aveto.
Rifugio Casermette del Penna
The Refuge is located within the Aveto Regional Natural Park, immersed in the enchanting context of Mount Penna (1735 a.s.l.), almost a fragment of the Dolomites, surrounded by a wonderful fir and beech forest. Numerous well-signposted paths start from here, indicated for different difficulty, characteristics and length.
La chiesa nel bosco di San Martino di Licciorno.
Hidden in the hills above Borzonasca is a magical place full of mysticism. An ancient church in the woods, which seems suspended in an arcane past. It can be reached by walking along a suggestive path.
What remains today are its very ancient ruins: the bell tower, part of the apse and the perimeter walls are still visible. Due to its importance and beauty it has become a “Luogo del Cuore FAI”.
Il volto megalitico
Ancient rock sculpture located near the municipality of Borzonasca, precisely in the valley of the Penna stream, between the Borzone Abbey and the village of Zolezzi. It seems to be the largest rock sculpture in the world.
Lago delle Lame
Small lake located in the Aveto Natural Regional Park, inside the Lame forest, on the slopes of Mount Aiona. Ideal destination for a relaxing day near the beech woods and for a picnic.
Portofino
One of the oldest and most famous fishing villages of the Ligurian Riviera. Colorful houses on the water, a spectacular small harbor, as well as exclusive boutiques and renowned restaurants. Everything overlooks the characteristic cobbled Piazzetta. A path connects it to the Castle, a sixteenth-century fortress with an adjoining museum which houses art exhibitions and offers breathtaking views of the Gulf sea. Recommended departure from Santa Margherita Ligure.
San Fruttuoso e il Cristo degli abissi
The Abbey of San Fruttuoso is located in a deep inlet of the Portofino Park. Unique place overlooking an enchanting sea, reachable only by sea or on foot with a demanding walk among the hills. Recommended departure from Santa Margherita Ligure or Portofino.
The Christ of the abyss is a bronze statue which in 1954 was placed at 17 meters of depth on the bottom of the bay. The whole area is part of a Marine Protected Reserve.
Punta Manara
It is a promontory jutting out towards the Gulf of Tigullio which extends from Sestri Levante to Riva Trigoso. Along the path to Punta Manara, which starts from Sestri Levante, there are panoramic points from where you can admire the “bay of fairy tales” and the “bay of silence”, as well as the splendid Mediterranean scrub and the entire gulf of Tigullio.
Punta Baffe e Moneglia
The path that leads to Punta Baffe starts from Riva Trigoso, where the ancient tower stands. A nice walk in the Mediterranean maquis, full of pines and strawberry trees. Panoramic, easy and with frequent rest areas. Continuing on the path you can reach Moneglia.
